BIO
Kim Ton was born in Utica, NY and grew up in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She attended the Rock School for Dance Education for 11 years and spent another 2 years at the Pennsylvania School for Ballet. She was a very active child from a young age and always enjoyed fine arts, although with no formal teaching in grade school.
When she was in her first year at the University of Hartford, Kim found her love for mixed media with a strong concentration in ceramics and painting. Her current work focuses on the relationship between the history of herself and the clay. Interested by the permanence of the fired clay and the impermanence of her aging body, Kim investigates her own memories and attempts to translate them into clay.
Kim Ton graduated from the University of Hartford with a BFA in Ceramics and a minor in Art History. She is currently a studio assistant to John Born of Humble Matter in Brooklyn.
